SNIP Trainees

Bo Anderson is a senior at Carthage College. He is majoring in neuroscience with minors in psychology and chemistry. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Matthew Burns.

Maria Paula Armenta is a senior at Purdue University. She is majoring in brain and behavioral sciences with minors in human development & family science and biological science. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Paola Guisti-Rodriguez.

Barbara Balsamo graduated from the University of Florida with a major in behavioral and cognitive neuroscience with a minor in anthropology. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Mark Moehle. She will be continuing her research in Dr. Moehle’s lab as a part of our GATORAADE postbaccalaureate program.

Gianna Degracia is a senior at the University of Florida. She is majoring in psychology with a minor in Italian. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Ben Lewis.

Will Do-Kenny is a senior at Skidmore College. He is majoring in neuroscience. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Brandon Warren.

Favour Ebiala is a senior at the University of Miami. She is majoring in neuroscience with a minor in chemistry. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Karina Alviña.

Lena Hetrick is a senior at High Point University. She is a majoring in neuroscience with minors in French and Francophone studies. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Stefan Prokop.

Pradnya Jagdale is a senior at Millsaps College. She is majoring in neuroscience and cognitive studies with a minor in math. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Valerie Joers.

Jordan Kopcha is a senior at Georgia Institute of Technology. She is majoring in psychology. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Ada Varga.

Gabrielle Pineiro graduated from Florida State University with a major in behavioral neuroscience. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Joshua Wong.

Kate Rush is a senior at the University of Florida. She is majoring in mathematics and philosophy with a minor in physics. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Drew Maurer.

Hannah Strother graduated from the University of Florida with a major in biochemistry. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Alfonso Martin Pena. She is currently a Master’s student in the lab of Dr. Sara Burke.

Nikhita Subramaniarao is a senior at Georgia Institute of Technology. She is majoring in physics. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Erica Dale.

Aura Valter Franco is a senior at Kennesaw State University. She is majoring in biology. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Karina Alvina.

Nora Williamson is a senior at Bryn Mawr College. She is majoring in neuroscience. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Sarah Burke.

Quinn Yuan is a senior at the University of Florida. She is majoring in data science. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Joshua Wong.

Mariam Zayour is a senior at the College of Wooster. She is majoring in neuroscience. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Drs. Barry Setlow and Freddyson Martinez-Rivera.

Aylin Ak graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a major in neuroscience and biology and a minor in statistics. She is currently a PhD student at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Houston Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Matt LaVoie.

Valerie Cabrera graduated from the University of Florida with a major in psychology and behavioral and cognitive neuroscience with a minor in economics. She is currently a PhD student in the department of neuroscience a the University of Florida.She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Eduardo Candelario-Jalil.

Jazmyn Coronado graduated from the University of Florida with a major in biochemistry. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Valerie Joers.

Kenedy Cox graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in psychology and a minor in Spanish. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Joe Abisambra.

Rachel Eloy graduated from the University of Florida with a major in behavioral and cognitive neuroscience as well as women’s studies with a minor in health disparities in society. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Paola Guisti-Rodriguez.

Mr. Caleb Reichbaum is a junior at Troy University. He is majoring in interdisciplinary studies with a minor in psychology. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Jeremy McIntyre.

Mr. Drew Smith is a junior at Nova Southeastern University. He is majoring in neuroscience with a minor in chemistry and pre-health. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Berry Setlow.

Ms. Niang Thang is a junior at Palm Beach Atlantic University. She is majoring in psychology with a minor in chemistry. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Andrew Maurer.

Ms. Mauli Bhogade is a junior at the University of Florida majoring in biochemistry and neuroscience with a minor in biomolecular engineering. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Habibeh Khoshbouei.

Mr. Lucas Budd graduated from the University of Florida majoring in biomedical engineering. He is currently working on his MD/PhD at Washington University. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Gordon S. Mitchell.

Ms. Isabel Castro Rivera is a junior at the University of Puerto Rico – Rio Piedras majoring in environmental science. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Nancy Padilla Coreano.

Ms. Kiani Cruz graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa majoring in biology. Currently a Postbac at the University of Chicago. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Sara Burke.

Mr. Ryan Fishman graduated from the University of Florida with degrees in microbiology and cell science and nutritional sciences. He is currently working at Fullbright English Teaching Assistant Program in Vietnam for the 22-23 School Year. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Sara Burke.

Mr. Michael Guldin is a graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University majoring in aerospace physiology. He completed his SNIP research under the mentorship of Dr. Matthew J. LaVoie.

Mr. Joshua Lopez Scarim graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in biology. He is currently a student at the Well-Cornell Medicine/The Rockefeller University/Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Tri-Institutional MD-PhD program. He completed his SNIP research under the mentorship of Drs. Malú Tansey and Alfonso Martin-Pena.

Mr. Samuel McDonald graduated from Sewanee The University of the South with a degree in neuroscience. Currently a Research Tech with Jonathan Bird at UF Pharmacology. He completed his SNIP research under the mentorship of Dr. Mark Moehle.

Mr. Kevin McNaught Jr. graduated from the Royal Holloway, University of London with a degree in biomedical sciences. He is currently working on a Master’s in Neuroscience at UF. He completed his SNIP research under the mentorship of Dr. Jada Lewis.

Ms. Karelys Montanez graduated from Nova Southeastern University majoring in behavioral neuroscience. She is currently a Postbac at the University of Chicago. She completed her SNIP research under the mentorship of Dr. Yenisel Cruz-Almeida.

Ms. Gloria Morales Quintana graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, Aguadilla with a degree in biology. She completed her SNIP research under the mentorship of Dr. Sara Burke.

Ms. Sophia Moret graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in biology. She is currently a Postbac at Yale University. She completed her SNIP research under the mentorship of Dr. Karina Alvina.

Ms. Soha Munir graduated from Hollins University majoring in psychology. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in biomed sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University. She completed her SNIP research under the mentorship of Dr. Paramita Chakrabarty.

Ms. Jillian Murray graduated at the College of Wooster majoring in neuroscience biology. Currently a Clinical Nursing Technician at Tufts Medical Center. She completed her SNIP research under the mentorship of Dr. Karina Alvina.

Ms. Ali Petrisek is a senior at Washington & Jefferson College majoring in neuroscience. She completed her SNIP research under the mentorship of Dr. Barry Setlow.

Ms. Julia Smith is a senior at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University majoring in clinical neuroscience and psychology. She completed her SNIP research under the mentorship of Dr. Valerie Joers.

Ms. Olivia Yang graduated from University of Florida with a degree in Biochemistry and Cognitive Neuroscience. She is currently working on her Ph.D. at UT Health -San Antonio. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Aaron Mickle.

Mr. Will Nickelson graduated with a degree in Biology, Research Psychology, and Religious Studies from Gonzaga University. Will is now working as a research technician in Dr. John Neumaier’s lab at University of Washington. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Jennifer Bizon and Dr. Barry Setlow.

Ms. Katie Moon graduated from Lycoming College with a degree in Neuroscience. She conducted her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Paramita Chakrabarty.

Graduate Student (MS) at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, under the mentorship of Dr Abha Karki-Rajbhandari. She conducted her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Andrew Maurer and Dr. Sara Burke.

Mr. Ryland Tishko graduated from University of Florida with a degree in Microbiology and Cell Science. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Eduardo Candelario-Jalil.

Ms. Elena Garcia graduated from University of Florida with a degree in Biology and Spanish. She is currently working at Biotech Axona. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Sara Burke.

Mr. Jose Torrellas graduated from University of Central Florida with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. He joined the graduate program in Neuroscience at University of Florida. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Todd Golde.

Ms. Rebekah Brawley graduated from Stetson University. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Valerie Joers.

Ms. Malika Allen was an undergraduate student at Wesleyan College studying Neuroscience and Psychology. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Wisconsin. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Karina Alviña.

Mr. Seifaldin Aldalil graduated from Sewanee: The University of the South studying Neuroscience. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Brandeis. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Joe Abisambra and Dr. Jeremy McIntyre.

Mr. Robert Lamprecht was an undergraduate student at Wofford College studying Computer Science and Neuroscience. He is currently a Postbac at Georgia Tech. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Erica Dale.

Ms. Johanna Bergstrom graduated from Cornell University. She is currently a NINDS Postbac. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Gyle Bumanglag.

Ms. Madeleine Ross graduated from Colorado College. She is currently a NIEHS Postbac. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Jeremy McIntyre.

Ms. Joy Buraima was an undergraduate student at Ohio Wesleyan University studying Behavioral & Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology. She is currently a Clinical Research Coordinator at Children’s National Hospital. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Marcelo Febo.

Mr. Arrioja is completing his undergraduate degree at University of Central Florida. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Drs. Jeremy McIntyre and Sara Burke.

Ms. Martinez-Gomez is currently completing her undergraduate degree at University of Puerto Rico Cayey. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Andrew Maurer.

Ms. Wright completed her undergraduate degree at Simpson College. Noelle is currently a Research Tech in the Dolen Lab at Johns Hopkins University. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Jen Bizon.

Mr. Wilson completed his undergraduate degree at Georgia Southern University. Mr. Wilson is currently a Research Technician at University of South Carolina Medical School. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Barry Setlow.

Ms. Michaelson completed her undergraduate degree at Georgia Southwestern University. Michaelson is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in neuroscience at University of Florida. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Eduardo Candelario-Jalil. Ms.

Ms. Moore completed her undergraduate degree at Bethune Cookman College. She is currently a Research Technician at Covance. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Leah Resnikov.

Ms. Smith completed her undergraduate degree at Rice University. Ms. Smith is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in neuroscience at University of Florida. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Drs. Sara Burke and Joe Abisambra.

Mr. Witherall completed his undergraduate degree at Washiington and Lee University. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Drs. Jeremy McIntyre.

Ms. Woods completed her undergraduate degree at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Paramita Chakrabarty.

Ms. Fadel completed her undergraduate degree at High Point University. She is currently enrolled in medical school at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr.Paramita Chakrabarty.

Mr. Larochelle earned his undergraduate degree from Ave Maria University. He is now pursuing his Ph.D. in Pharmacology at the University of Florida. He complete his SNIP research experience under the mentorship Dr. Lucia Notterpek.

Ms. Letinski is completing her undergraduate degree at University of Chicago. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Drs. Sara Burke and Jen Bizon.

Ms. Maine is a member of the Airforce. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Michael Okun.

Mr. Nack earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University. He complete his SNIP research experience under the mentorship Dr. Yenisel Cruz-Almeda.

Mr. Patel is earning his undergraduate degree from Lycoming College. He complete his SNIP research experience under the mentorship Dr. Jada Lewis.

Ms. Roberts earned her undergraduate degree from University of Colorado, Denver. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Wake Forest University. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Jeremy McIntyre.

Mr. Zsembik earned his undergraduate degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Leo completed a NIH IRTA post-bac. He has been awarded a NSF GFRP fellowship and is starting his PhD at UCSF. He complete his SNIP research experience under the mentorship Dr. Andrew Maurer.

Ms. Cossio completed her undergraduate degree at Skidmore College. She is currently enrolled in the Neuroscience Ph.D. program at University of Chicago. She worked with Dr. Sara Burke during her SNIP experience, participating in 2016 and 2017. She is now enrolled in a Ph.D. Program at University of California, Irvine.

Mr. Fagerli completed her undergraduate degree at University of Florida. He is currently in the Neuroscience Ph.D. program at the University of Miami. He completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Jake Ayers.

Ms. Lazzaro earned her undergraduate degree at University of Pittsburgh. She is currently a Research Specialist. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Adam Woods.

Mr. Lewis completed her undergraduate degree at Kansas State University. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Jason Coleman.

Mr. Miller Completed is undergraduate degree at the University of Florida. He conducted his SNIP research experience with Dr. Jada Lewis and Dr. Nick McFarland.

Danielle Sblendorio, MD graduated from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Spring 2024. She is an incoming neurology resident physician at West Virginia University. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Jeremy McIntyre.

Mr. Sperber completed his undergraduate degree at Williams College. Mr. Sperber then went on to complete a Fulbright Scholar at Instituto Cajal, CSIC. He is now enrolled in medical school at Duke University. He completed his SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Jeremy McIntyre.

Ms. Stubbs completed her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at Kenyon College. She completed a post-bac program at Northwestern. Now Ms. Stubbs is enrolled in the Neuroscience Ph.D. program at Ohio State University. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Barry Setlow.

Ms. Sulaman completed her undergraduate degree at Vassar College. Ms. Sulaman is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Michigan. She completed her SNIP research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Andrew Maurer.

Ms. Barnes completed her undergraduate degree at Hampton University. Research Assistant in the Agbandje-McKenna Lab at the University of Florida. Candace has earned her MS degree in Food Science from UF and is now a Molecular Scientist III with the FDA. She worked with Dr. Jeremy McIntyre during her SNIP experience.

Mr. Dragone completed a Master’s degree in Neuroscience at University of Florida. Mr. Dragone worked with Dr. Habibeh Khoshbouei during his SNIP experience.

Ms. Ferguson completed a Master’s in Biomedical Science from Duke University and is currently pursuing her medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine. Ms. Ferguson worked with Dr. Barry Setlow during her SNIP experience.

Ms. St. John completed her undergraduate degree at LaFayette University. She is now enrolled in the Neuroscience Ph.D. Program at Boston University. She was mentored by Dr. Jen Bizon during her SNIP research experience.

Ms. Fritz is now enrolled in Medical School at the University of Florida. Ms. Fritz worked with Dr. Lucia Notterpek during her SNIP experience.

Mr. Malnick completed his undergraduate degree at Amherst University. He is now enrolled in medical school at University of Florida.

Ms. Gonzalez completed her undergraduate degree from Florida Gulf Coast University. Ms. Gonzalez is currently now an IRTA Fellow in the NIH post-bac program. She completed her SNIP experience under the mentorship of Dr. Jeremy McIntyre.

Mr. Parker completed his undergraduate degree at Bethune-Cookman College. Mr. Parker is now a second lieutenant in the US Army Medical Specialist Corp and a doctor of occupational therapy student at Nova Southeastern University. He completed his SNIP research experience with Dr. Kevin Otto.
