Research Profile

My work is trying to investigate molecular mechanisms involved in focal ischemic injury and develop novel therapeutic strategies for treatment of ischemic stroke. Specifically, I aim to elucidate the roles of oxidative stress and neuroinflammation in maintaining or disrupting blood brain barrier (BBB) integrity in ischemic stroke using in vitro cell cultures and in vivo models of transient or permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) in rats and mice.

Areas of Interest

  • cerebral ischemia
  • myocardial ischemia
