About Stefan Prokop

Stefan Prokop, M.D. joined the University of Florida in July 2019 from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Prokop serves as the director of the UF Neuromedicine Human Brain and Tissue bank (UF HBTB) and core leader for the Neuropathology core of the 1Florida Alzheimer’s disease research center (ADRC). He is also a Fixel scholar with the newly formed Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases. Dr. Prokop interfaces between clinical neuropathology with a focus on brain autopsies and research activities in the Center for Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases (CTRND), the 1Florida ADRC and the Fixel Institute for Neurological diseases.

Prior to joining UF Dr. Prokop completed Neuropathology training in Switzerland and Germany and practiced for several years at the Charite Medical University in Berlin, one of the largest academic Neuropathology centers in Europe. He subsequently completed training in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also served as a research fellow in the Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research (CNDR).
