About Anatoly E Martynyuk
My name is Anatoly Martynyuk, PhD, and I am a professor of anesthesiology in the UF Department of Anesthesiology in the Divisions of Research and Neuroanesthesia and have a joint appointment with the Department of Neuroscience. I am also a member of the McKnight Brain Institute.
As a biophysicist and neuroscientist, my research involves investigating the neurobehavioral effects of exposure to general anesthetic agents, and extends to mechanisms of brain dysfunction in phenylketonuria, as well as to new therapeutic approaches to treat stroke and supraventricular tachycardia. I’ve been the principal investigator on a number of National Institutes of Health (NIH) projects including ones funded by the National Institute of General Medicine, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.
I serve on the editorial boards of several scientific journals and as a reviewer of research grants for the NIH, the National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia in England, the Ministry of Health in Italy, and the Irish Health Research Board in Ireland. I have published research in many academic journals and hold a number of patents.
I joined the Department of Anesthesiology in 1997 as an assistant professor. Prior to this, I earned my Master of Science degree from Kiev State University and my PhD and DSc in biophysics from Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology in Kiev, Ukraine. I also completed postdoctoral training at the University of Glasgow, in the UK.
