The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) is a nonprofit membership organization of scientists and physicians who study the brain and nervous system. Since inception in 1969, the Society has grown from 500 members to more than 42,000. SfN is the world’s largest organization of scientists and physicians devoted to advancing understanding of the brain and nervous system. The growth of the neuroscience field, the pace of biomedical research, and the globalization of the neuroscience community make networking, and staying informed imperative.
Members have the opportunity to advance the field by educating the public about neuroscience promise and progress, including advocacy training and educational events. Other advantages include interdisciplinary communication with students from a diverse range of scientific backgrounds, as well as exclusive participation in the annual data blitz and poster competition held annually at the University of Florida.
SfN also provides international recognition within the field, a valuable notation on employment applications, vitae and resumes.
