Tala Ortiz Wins Second Place for Three-Minute Thesis

We’re excited to share that Neuroscience Doctoral candidate, Tala Ortiz, has been awarded second place in UF’s Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. Her compelling presentation, “mRNA Therapeutics for Treatment of C9orf72 ALS/FTD,” showcased the innovative and impactful research she is conducting under the mentorship of Dr. Laura Ranum.

The 3MT Competition was developed by the University of Queensland (Australia) and challenges graduate students to present their thesis and its significance in just three minutes. It is designed to strengthen students’ academic, presentation, and communication skills while helping them share their research with a broad, non-academic audience.

As one of only 10 finalists selected from across the university, her thesis portrays an incredible accomplishment and testament to her talent, hard work, and dedication. Congratulations, Tala!
