Drs. Abigail and Caesar Hernandez return to the department as summer seminar speakers.

Drs. Abigail and Caesar Hernanez, alumni who recieved their PhD from the department in 2018, returned to present in our summer seminar series. The summer seminar series is a part of the professional development offered to the department Summer Neuroscience Internship Program (SNIP). Their seminar talk is a part of SNIP’s 10-year anniversary celebration. Abigail Hernandez helped her mentor, Dr. Sara Burke, begin SNIP in 2016. She credits her time at UF and her experiences in mentorship through programs such as SNIP as helping her understand and embrace training, teaching, and mentorship in her career. Both Abigail and Caesar are currently assistant professors at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

During its 10-year history, SNIP has welcomed over 140 trainees. Over 90% of those trainees go on to pursue careers in science once they graduate with their undergraduate degree.
