Welcome Dr. Michelle Bedenbaugh to the Department of Neuroscience!

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Michelle Bedenbaugh as our new Assistant Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at UF!

Dr. Bedenbaugh is a dedicated scientist specializing in neural circuits that govern food intake, anxiety, and reproduction. Her research employs advanced molecular genetic tools in mice to visualize, measure, and manipulate these circuits, providing insights into how neural architecture influences behavior and physiology. Her work also explores how critical developmental periods and disruptions can have lasting health effects.

Dr. Bedenbaugh earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science (2012) and Master’s degree in Physiology of Reproduction (2014) from Texas A&M University. She went on to complete her Doctorate in Cellular and Integrative Physiology at West Virginia University in 2018 and recently finished a postdoctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University under Dr. Richard Simerly.

Beyond the lab, Dr. Bedenbaugh enjoys staying active with her two dogs, Sophie and Audie, cheering for the Gators, and learning to play the drums.

Welcome to the Gator Neuroscience family, Dr. Bedenbaugh! We’re excited to have you and look forward to your contributions to our community.
