MacKenzie Bolen, a graduate student in Dr. Malu Tansey’s lab, was awarded a grant for her research through the Bryan W. Robinson Endowment. The award includes $4000 of support for Bolen’s research titled “A Gut-First Investigation of Parkinson’s Etiopathogenesis: Iron-Driven Mitochondria Dysregulation as a Function of Neuroimmune Cross-Talk and Underlying Inflammation.”
The Bryan Robinson Endowment awarded six individuals pursuing a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in neuroscience research. Bolen was one of two awardees from the University of Florida.
