Research Focus & Aims:

The aim of my laboratory is to understand the molecular events that control gene expression with the intent to develop therapeutics that target gene regulation to impact disease pathology. Our research focuses on understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms controlling gene expression in the inflammatory response and more recently the events involved in nutrient control of gene regulation. We specifically study events involving free radical and antioxidant gene expression as well as the regulation of enzymes associated with arachidonate/eicosanoid metabolism as they relate to the inflammatory response. We have specific interests in the regulation of manganese superoxide dismutase, isoforms of cytosolic phospholpase A2 and in essential nutrient control of the longevity transcription factor, FOXO3a.
